PoE 3.28: Sweep: Has been reworked, and is now called Holy Sweep. Holy Sweep swings a two handed mace or a staff in a circle, calling down Holy Hammers to land randomly on a number of enemies struck. Hits from these Holy Hammers cannot be evaded.

Core Mechanics

In Path of Exile 3.28: Mirage, Holy Sweep is the reworked version of the classic melee skill Sweep. It has been transformed into a Strength/Intelligence-aligned skill that incorporates new "Holy Hammer" mechanics.

  • The Rework: Instead of a simple circular swing, the skill now calls down Holy Hammers to strike targets hit by the initial sweep.
  • Damage Potential: It features a high base attack damage (reportedly around 726% on single targets), making it competitive with other heavy-hitting skills.
  • Overlap Tech: Hits can potentially "funnel" damage; if multiple enemies are grouped, the resulting hammers can strike a primary target multiple times for massive total damage.
PoE Holy Sweep Build Guide

Sweep is an old skill. In fact, it is so old that it’s one of the very first skills ever implemented in Path of Exile, over fifteen years ago. It’s been loooooong overdue for some attention.

With 3.28, it has been reworked into Holy Sweep! This skill converts some of your physical damage to lightning, with shiny new effects to match. Some enemies struck by the initial sweep will have hammers of light batter them from above. These hammers cause area damage where they land, so clustered enemies are demolished by repeated impacts.

Popular Build for 3.28

  • Juggernaut: A popular league-starter choice focusing on high survivability (tankiness) and massive area-of-effect (AoE).
  • Inquisitor/Guardian: Often built around the "Holy Hammers" theme, utilizing elemental conversion (Fire/Lightning) and staff-based critical strikes.
  • General's Cry: Some players are experimenting with General's Cry to automate Holy Sweep, though it requires specific scaling for the mirage warriors to trigger the hammer procs.

Strategic Tips

  • Weapon Choice: Staves are highly recommended due to the Counterweight notable and general block/crit synergy on the Templar/Marauder side of the tree.
  • Scaling: Focus on Physical damage, Area of Effect, and Attack Speed. Since it creates "Holy" procs, elemental conversion (to Fire or Lightning) is a common way to maximize damage via Aura scaling.
  • Worm Flask Tech: Players have discussed using The Writhing Jar to spawn worms, allowing the "funnel" mechanic to trigger extra hammers on bosses.
